Darbar Shri Guru Ram Rai Ji Maharaj, Dehradun

Darbar Shri Guru Ram Rai Ji Maharaj is a religious and philanthropic organisation founded by Shri Guru Ram Rai Ji, son of Shri Guru Har Rai Ji, the seventh Sikh Guru. It dates back to 1676 AD. The city of Dehradun was christened so, when Shri Ruru Ram Rai Ji set up his "Dera" (Settlement) in Doon Valley. The then Mughal emperor Aurangzeb gifted the town of Dehradun (in its original splendour, it was of 6 villages) to the Guru. The rich heritage and golden history is quite evident in the architectural splendour of the Darbar and the holy Gurudwara.
