About us
Under-Graduate course started in the year-1965.The Post-graduation under self-finance scheme is started in the 2005. The Number of Permanent Teacher sanctioned in the department is 01. We do admission as per H.N.B Garhwal (Central) University norms. The Student of lower and middle sections as well as urban areas takes admission in the department. The good number of other state student also take admission in the department (H.P,J&K,U.P,North East). The classes are taken in Hindi medium and English medium because we have student from reputed English medium background as well from the normal Hindi background. We also get admission of the student from purely rural backgrounds that are good in their studies but having poor English background. The department of history is gradually developing its learning resources. 

The Present Dr M.S Gusain is working as Assistant Professor and Head of the Department, having M.A in Ancient History and UGC/NET, Ph.D,LL.B. The department was recognized as a research center in April-2014 .In present- 05 research scholars are enrolled in the department for Ph.D under Dr M.S.Gusain and 01 scholar awarded Ph.D degree and 01 scholar submitted Ph.D thesis. The department is always part of various activity of the college. The Post-graduation result from the year of establishment (2005) is always 100% as well as the student are holding the top five position of the University ranking. The department also established 'The Heritage Gallery' for preservation of history and culture of Uttrakhand which was inaugurated by Maj. Gen. Anand Singh Rawat (Retd.) on 8 November-2019.The Heritage gallery is also useful to impart the practical knowledge of the subject to the students of history. The department has facility of teaching through he ICT tools and during the Covid-19 pandemic the department also set up the online mode teaching facility.

Future prospects of the Department

Ø  To well equip the department with the ICT tools.

Ø  To establish ‘Guidance Cell’ to prepare and motivate student towards the open competition.

Ø  To Invite subject expert for guest lecture as per requirement  of the needs of curriculum of students of history.

Ø  To establish the reputation of department in the field of quality research work.

Ø   To covert "The Heritage Gallery" into the renowned Museum s of the Doon valley.
Ø  To contribute in making the good citizen of the nation so that we can feel pride on our department and Institution.
